LVL3 is pleased to announce The shroud the slip the surface the stain, a two-person show featuring Kate Hefferan (Chicago, IL) and Brit Krohmer (Milwaukee, WI). The exhibition will be on view from June 27th to August 16th, 2026.
The shroud the slip the surface the stain is a meditation on the gulf between seeing and knowing, on the space through which we reach in search of the image. Through the works of Krohmer and Hefferan, we invite you to linger and reflect on the moment between perception and comprehension.
Krohmer’s ceramic sculptures mimic the geometry of structure and utility while harboring a stubborn resistance to instrumentalization and categorization. In her work, failure and repair exist uneasily in a negotiation between oblivion and purpose. Hefferan’s paintings remind us that to remember is also to risk forgetting: by pausing time in material, she stretches and shrinks the distance between the event of the painting and the event of the memory.
The opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2026 from 6-9pm.
