ni-hao! is a pop-punk band with members based in both Japan and Los Angeles.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.

We are ni-hao! RED ARIKO and BLUE YUKARI from Japan.
ARIKO lives in Kyoto, there is famous for the old rows of houses.
YUKARI lives in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
Our heart is one, though we live far from each other (it takes 9 hours driving).
And now, we got new 2 members from LA.
They are cute twins!
We don’t care about the distance.
We are worldwide girls!!!

What kinds of things are influencing your music right now?

1. Cool foods!
2. Cool toys!
3. Cool friends!!!!!

 

 

What are some recent, upcoming or current projects you are working on? We got new members, so we are crazy for playing as “brand-new” ni-hao! We will make new album in this year!

If you were a drink, what drink would you be?

RED ARIKO: Green tea with soda! (Japanese doesn’t drink it!)
BLUE YUKARI: sour sour lemonade. (I give you vitamins!)

How did your interest in music begin? Japanese underground music! We were paralyzed when we listened to that for the first time. That made us crazy!!!

Do you have groupies and what are they like? Yes! They are super cute. They always make our hearts leap for joy.

 

 

What past trends in music do you think should never come back? Any kind of trend should not come back. Trends must be always new!!

Who would you ideally like to collaborate with?

BLUE YUKARI: STRIPE from the movie “Gremlins”. I want play tricks with him on stage.
RED ARIKO: You!!!

Where is your favorite/ideal place to perform? An insufficient place excites us. The broken amps, the short mic stand, or animal audiences.

 

 

Most embarrassing moment on stage? Nothing! Every moment makes us happy on stage!!!
